Today, more than ever, the world needs to unite to face its most complex challenges. Whether it’s the fight against social inequalities, the pursuit of climate justice, or the creation of fairer economic opportunities, in my humble opinion, there is an urgent need for coordinated global action. And it is precisely in this context that Brazil has been playing a pioneering role by creating the social component of the G20, ensuring that the voices of favelas and marginalized communities around the world are heard. We have taken on this responsibility because we are the institution with the reach to do so, without any arrogance.
This global agenda is crucial, as is the importance of CUFA’s presence in various countries, allowing us to continue collaborating with nations on issues like these. Our global presence has also led to other achievements, such as the one announced today.
During my time in Stockholm, one of the highlights of this journey was consolidating an international project with Spotify, a platform that recognizes the strength and importance of favelas in the global landscape. Many young people from favelas seek opportunities through their music, and this platform’s power has revolutionized the lives of thousands. This project will expand to 50 countries by 2025, born from a dialogue that began when we were present in just 41 nations. This demonstrates that when global companies and community leaders work together, powerful solutions emerge.
The National Favela Conference in Sweden, held during my stay, brought a sense of hope. The CUFA leadership in Sweden is among the most prepared within our team, ready to lead significant transformations. Amanda, Luiz, Tubarão, Bruno, and many others showed how the experiences of marginalized communities can shape the future of global policies, inspiring changes in their own lives and in the communities they represent.
What we see now is the emergence of a new form of global cooperation, where the knowledge of favelas takes center stage in shaping impactful social policies. Brazil, through CUFA and the G20 Favelas, is at the forefront of this movement. It’s more than just inclusion—it’s leadership.
Tomorrow, we head to Germany, where the Berlin conference will take the next step in strengthening this network. The future is taking shape, and it’s being guided by those who have long been left on the margins.
Together, we are building a fairer and more inclusive world. The only way to ensure a better future is by being the protagonist of this story. Whether through music with partners like Spotify or through social activism, without seeking a monopoly on good.
